Duality violations and spectral sum rules
نویسنده
چکیده
We study the issue of duality violations in the V V −AA vacuum polarization function in the chiral limit. This is done with the help of a model with an expansion in inverse powers of the number of colors, Nc, allowing us to consider resonances with a finite width. Due to these duality violations, the Operator Product Expansion (OPE) and the moments of the spectral function (e.g. the Weinberg sum rules) do not match at finite momentum, and we analyze this difference in detail. We also perform a comparative study of many of the different methods proposed in the literature for the extraction of the OPE parameters and find that, when applied to our model, they all fare quite similarly. In fact, the model strongly suggests that a significant improvement in precision can only be expected after duality violations are included. To this end, we propose a method to parameterize these duality violations. The method works quite well for the model, and we hope that it may also be useful in future determinations of OPE parameters in QCD.

Recent sum rule analyses on the two-point correlator have led to significant discrepancies in the values found for the OPE condensates, most dramatically in the dimension eight condensate and to a lesser extent in the dimension six one [1]. Precise knowledge of these condensates is of relevance in kaon decays [2] and therefore it seems mandatory to assess the actual impact of what is co...
متن کاملChiral sum rules and vacuum condensates from tau-lepton decay data
QCD finite energy sum rules, together with the latest updated ALEPH data on hadronic decays of the tau-lepton are used in order to determine the vacuum condensates of dimension d = 2 and d = 4. These data are also used to check the validity of the Weinberg sum rules, and to determine the chiral condensates of dimension d = 6 and d = 8, as well as the chiral correlator at zero momentum, proporti...

Gaussian sum-rules relate a QCD prediction to a two-parameter Gaussian-weighted integral of a hadronic spectral function, providing a clear conceptual connection to quarkhadron duality. In contrast to Laplace sum-rules, the Gaussian sum-rules exhibit enhanced sensitivity to excited states of the hadronic spectral function. The formulation of Gaussian sum-rules and associated analysis techniques...
متن کاملChiral Sum Rules and Duality in QCD
The ALEPH data on the vector and axial-vector spectral functions, extracted from tau-lepton decays, is used in order to test local and global duality, as well as a set of four QCD chiral sum rules. These are the Das-Mathur-Okubo sum rule, the first and second Weinberg sum rules, and a relation for the electromagnetic pion mass difference. We find these sum rules to be poorly saturated, even whe...
متن کاملPinched weights and Duality Violation in QCD Sum Rules: a critical analysis
We analyze the so-called pinched weights, that are generally thought to reduce the violation of quark-hadron duality in Finite-Energy Sum Rules. After showing how this is not true in general, we explain how to address this question for the LR correlator and any particular pinched weight taking advantage of our previous work [1], where the possible high-energy behavior of the LR spectral functio...
